The Anti-Corruption Foundation has released a new investigation into Alexey Zhuravlev, a State Duma deputy, leader of the Rodina party, and one of the most prominent figures in Russia’s pro-war propaganda machine. It was Zhuravlev who prepared the lawsuit that ultimately led the Supreme Court to remove the Yabloko party from the upcoming State Duma elections.

According to his official declarations, Zhuravlev owns virtually no real estate. But ACF found expensive property registered to people close to him. Evgenia Shaimova, the mother of two of his children, owns two apartments near Rublyovka worth around 90 million rubles in total, as well as a house in Livadia near Yalta worth approximately 35 million rubles and a Mercedes-Benz. ACF estimates the total value of her assets at nearly 130 million rubles.

Another part of the investigation focuses on Zhuravlev’s longtime aide, Tatiana Kalegina. In 2020, she bought a 153-square-meter apartment in Krasnogorsk, followed by a Porsche Macan in 2021. Medical databases show that Zhuravlev listed Kalegina’s apartment as his actual place of residence, while the Porsche insurance policy named him as one of its drivers. Kalegina’s mother, who works for a KAMAZ subsidiary, also became the owner of a 273-square-meter townhouse outside Moscow in 2021, which ACF estimates to be worth around 50 million rubles.

The investigation shows how a politician who publicly calls on Russians to endure hardship, go to war, and fight the West enjoys expensive property and luxury cars registered to people close to him.
