U.S. Lawmakers Call for Sanctions on Putin’s Cronies Named by ACF

Bipartisan leaders of the U.S. Helsinki Commission have urged the Trump administration to impose sanctions on dozens of corrupt Russian elites and facilitators of Vladimir Putin’s crimes—using the Navalny-50 List by the Anti-Corruption Foundation.

In a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Senators Roger Wicker and Sheldon Whitehouse, along with Representatives Joe Wilson and Steve Cohen, demanded that the U.S. expand personal sanctions against those enabling the Kremlin’s war in Ukraine and repression inside Russia.

The lawmakers stressed that individuals close to Putin who profit from bloodshed and corruption must not be allowed to enjoy their wealth in the United States, Europe, Canada, or Australia. They highlighted that coordinated sanctions with allies are crucial to blocking the regime’s access to safe havens for dirty money.

“The names provided by the Anti-Corruption Foundation—founded by Alexei Navalny—represent key enablers of Putin’s abuses,” the letter states. “Adding them to the U.S. sanctions list would be a strong step toward isolating the Kremlin’s criminal network globally.”

ACF has long insisted that Western governments must target not only Putin himself but also the officials, oligarchs, propagandists, and security operatives who keep his regime alive. This call from both Republican and Democratic members of Congress is another important recognition of our work and of Navalny’s legacy.
